What we do

The core intervention area of SFNS are:

  • Understanding and amplifying the voice of mine workers engaged in Natural Stone Sector.
  • Developing variety of research-based approaches to attain Zero Tolerance on Occupational Health & Safety.
  • Building capacities of diverse stakeholders such as workers, employees, civil societies, trade unions, government organizations to promote implementation of Business & Human       rights principles across the Natural Stone Sector in Rajasthan (India).
  • Conducting research and surveys to learn more about the Natural Stone sector and its stakeholder’s perspective and challenges.
  • Building dialogue with diversified stakeholders.
  • Piloting projects around mine workers and their families to share the learning with diversified stakeholders to make them aware what works and what does not work.
  • Piloting field projects with mine workers and their families to share the learning with a wide range of stakeholders so that they can see what works and what doesn't.
  • Various Policy level interventions to ensure workers’ rights are respected.
  • Developing new generation cadre to drive the Natural Stone sector's long-term sustainable development.

The Sustainability Forum on Natural Stone (SFNS) is a non-for-profit multi-stakeholder initiative founded in 2013 with the mission of creating an eco-system to address the voice of Rajasthan's most vulnerable and marginalised mine workers and developing an inclusive and sustainable road map for the natural stone sector.
